“Facts, Family & Wellness: The Importance of Vaccination” — Webinar Recap

By California Chronic Care Coalition

December 9, 2025

In the webinar titled “Facts, Family & Wellness: The Importance of Vaccination”, the presenters remind us of one critical truth: vaccination remains one of the most powerful tools we have to safeguard public health. Liz Helms with YourVaccinationGuide.org, Dr. Richard Pan, pediatrician and former California Senator, and Janet McUlsky with CVEEP frame immunizations not just as personal protection, but as a safe, collective shield — benefiting individuals, families, and communities alike.

The webinar emphasizes several key points:

  • Vaccines save lives by preventing serious, potentially life-threatening diseases. The presenters highlight how immunization programs have dramatically reduced — and in some cases nearly eliminated — diseases that were common a short time ago.
  • Vaccination isn’t only about individual health: it’s about community wellness. When many people are immunized, it helps protect those who can’t get vaccinated (because of age, medical conditions, health, etc.), creating what public-health experts call herd immunity.
  • The presenters also address some common misconceptions and fears about vaccines. They walk through data showing vaccines’ strong safety record, explaining how vaccines are tested and regulated to ensure effectiveness and minimize risks.
  • Finally — and perhaps most importantly — they encourage informed decision-making: urging individuals to consult trustworthy sources and professional medical advice, rather than rumors or misinformation. The message: vaccination decisions are personal, but also deeply social — and should be rooted in facts.

Vaccination = Protection

Vaccines may save lives by reducing the risks of diseases that once caused widespread childhood illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths. They continue to reduce these risks as long as we are vaccinated. Even flu can and does kill, but vaccines can lower the chances of hospitalization and death.

The webinar frames vaccination not only as personal health insurance but as a community duty. When enough people get vaccinated, everyone benefits — including those who cannot be vaccinated. That’s how “community wellness,” “herd immunity,” and “public health” work together.

Trust Science & Facts

Given misinformation surrounding vaccines, the webinar underlines the importance of relying on scientific data, health-care guidance, and regulatory oversight. The presenters urge that you consult medical experts such as the American Medical Association, the Academy of Family Physicians, or the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Make Informed Choices

The content encourages thoughtful, informed decisions — not based on fear or rumors. Using “informed decision-making” or “facts about vaccination” helps steer the tone toward education, not panic.

Please watch and share this webinar with Parents and families — to understand how vaccination protects adults, children, and communities — anyone facing vaccine hesitancy or misinformation –to get clear, factual explanations that address concerns.

The “Importance of Vaccination” webinar offers a powerful, fact-based reminder: vaccines are among the most effective interventions in public health. They protect individuals, safeguard communities, and — when embraced broadly — help ensure healthier futures for all. Visit the YourVaccinationGuide.org home page to watch the full video.
